Erdek Tourism

[vc_column_text]Erdek, Bandirma, Susurluk, Bursa are the favorite summer resorts of settlements. The nearby forested areas of Kapidag are also of interest and are used for nature tourism. In Kapidag there are untouched villages inhabited by the immigrants Pomaks of Thessaloniki. Before the Republic, Kapıdağ region was one of the most densely populated areas of the Greek population in Anatolia.

The ruins of the ancient city of Kyzikos are exhibited in the Bandırma Archeology Museum. In the museum, the grave steles obtained from the ancient self and the vicinity of Kyzikos are exhibited.

It is known that the first inhabitants of the city of Kyzikos (Kizikos), which is 10-12 km outside of Erdek and where the great civilization lived, were Dolions and the founder of the city was King Kyzikos. Remaining and known historical architectural wealth from Kyzikos can be listed as follows; Hadrian’s temple, Kyzikos Amphitheater, Altiköe towers, Bouleuterion, the temple built by his sons on behalf of Apoolonis Queen of Pergamon, Kirazlı Highland Monastery.

Since 1990, Erdek Municipality has been organizing culture and art activities under the name of ’Erdek Festivals’.

Since 1959, Turkey Erdek’te who pioneered the tourism movement, has one of the most beautiful coastlines and sandy beaches of our country. 12 km. There are touristic hotels, motels and recreational facilities along the long coastline.

The historical and natural beauties of Erdek district have caused the economic activities shaped according to the tourism sector in the region to gain importance. Although tourism activities have a seasonal character and cannot be diversified sufficiently, it attracts attention as an important income and employment area that shapes the economic life of the district. Erdek is the fourth among the districts of Balıkesir province with a coastline of 34.75 Km. In terms of beach length, it ranks third with 14.5 km.34.75 Km.

There are 1789 facilities with 15 operating facilities, 2411 facilities with 14 tourism facilities, 2034 facilities with 95 municipal facilities and 4697 beds with 15 public camps. There are not enough tourist restaurants and entertainment places in the district. Of the 12,470 residences in Erdek, 4331 (35%) are second homes. Erdek has great potential in terms of tourism, infrastructure and superstructure problems accumulated over the years, although the natural structure is not diversified, not targeted and contented with summer tourism sector understanding and low level of education can not get the place it deserves. While evaluating the city of Erdek in terms of tourism, first of all, physical, social, economic and touristic data should be examined.

The fact that Erdek is located in the Marmara region on the Euro-Asian connection is a positive issue for foreign tourism. Its proximity to Istanbul, which is one of the main destinations of foreign tourism, brings convenience in terms of location on international air and highway routes. The presence of long-standing beach areas along the city coastline and the presence of mountains that provide micro-air conditioning features to Erdek by preventing the prevailing winds blowing from the north gives the beach great advantages in terms of tourist use. These mountains, which are covered with clean, plain and uncontaminated vegetation, give an effective landscape view. Naturally, the city beach, which consists of two separate bays, shows rich perspectives, far from being uniform, when viewed from various points.

These mountains, which are covered with clean, plain and uncontaminated vegetation, give an effective landscape view. Naturally, the city beach, which consists of two separate bays, shows rich perspectives, far from being uniform, when viewed from various points. On the other hand, when you look at the sea from the coast, the silhouettes of the opposite shoreline and the islands and the horizon are cut, enriching the view. The olive groves constituting the plant texture are a factor that increases the tourist attraction of the city. As it is seen in the data section, the uncertainty of the climate characteristics of the region and the city limits the usable tourist season to a period of two months. The two months mentioned here are the maximum time that the sea-sand-sun trio has benefited. However, increasing this period to four months with planning and facilities should be the objective of Erdek tourism development. In the remaining eight months of the year, the main objective for Erdek tourism should be to create facilities that will serve at least holiday and weekend holiday tourism as well as congress tourism, hunting tourism, treatment and thermal tourism. The comparison of climatic criteria such as sea water temperature, sunshine, distribution of average temperature between regions according to monthly averages affecting the tourism of the region with other regions is given in order to obtain an idea in the following tables.
